Do doctors tend to steer away from operating on PD patients?? In particular, hip and knee surgeries?
I had total knee done, no problem except I could not take pain meds due to interactions from meds. Also have had 3other surgerys with Parkinson's, no problem
I had total knee replacement in August 8 this year on my Parkinson's leg. I can lean and walk on it full force. My only problem was I could not take pain killers due to so much other meds. What I could take gave me hallucinations. So it was painful going cold turkey. Glad I did it
I also had one knee replaced. No one mentioned any concerns and everything went smooth.
I had both knees replaced within a year of PD diagnosis. No problems with either. They were done about 6 months apart.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member Tremors stop when you sleep so you are likely to be very sedated or put under anesthesia for an MRI . I meditatie so I just went into meditation mode for the duration of my MRI.
