Yes, I sure do. I was sent to a speech therapist who had me do a modified barium swallow. The test showed my difficulty and some problems with aspirating. Now I each moist foods with lots of gravy. I have to be careful in swallowing water and other liquids. I use sips of liquid when eating. When taking morning meds I use a spoon full of applesauce with each pill. When I still have occasional difficulty, I put a little grape jelly on a spoon and put the pill in it. To take my evening meds I take them with some pudding. When I eat out I look for moist foods and ask for salad dressings and extra gravy. Also carry nitroglycerin tablets with me to use when the food still gets hung. The nitro relaxes the esophagus making it a little easier to swallow.

Yes swallowing problems are unpredictable, annoying and embarrassing. Personally I only eat food that is known to be moist and if there a potential for it to be on the dry side, I request a lot of gravy or sauce to cover the food even though it doesn't the menu. Plus I have not eaten at a fast food restaurant in over 2 years. No longer is bread, most pastries or cakes a part of my meals.

This is Dave responding, I occasionally have swallowing problems if I don't take small bites and take time to chew. I had to "eat on the run" when I was working and I sometimes forget that I don't need to rush through my meals. God bless you guys.

With a lot of praying and help from GOD, I got the mailbox done. A friend from church put the sink trap on for me and it was a very good thing I did not try for it was complicated. Someone used two different size parts and JH really had a time with it. But both are done and thanks for your prayers.

I have not really found anything. I do chew some gum at times. I am one of five Senior Adult Sunday School teachers and have mentioned the problem of being so dry I could hardly talk. Water has been suggested but I replied that I would probably shake the water all over the place (and besides it would cause me to have to go to the bathroom). I said the next time I am going to try gum while teaching. I believe that will help. Vicks vapor rub helps my dry lips better than chap stick does I am trying to remember to chew my food more thoroughly and I have to drink water to sometimes get food down. I do have trouble swallowing pills at times..
