Carbidopa Levodopa + Cold
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone taking Carbidopa Levodopa found a medication that helps relieve or shorten the symptoms of a cold or the flu and is safe to take with Carbidopa Levodopa?

We just went to a siminar and learned that the precaution on many cold remedies is for MAO-B inhibitors like Azilect, Eldepryl & Zelapar. It's OK to take most over the counter cold meds with Carbidopa Levodopa.

If you can find Hyssop tea it is a wonderful remedy for a cold/cough. Hyssop was mentioned in the Bible as a medicinal herb also used as a disinfectant in those times.

I don't use any MAO inhibitors but I use (and this may be an old wives tale) a dab of Polysporin in my nose every night year-round. I haven't had a cold in several years!

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I use 2 teaspoons of honey, 2 t of Mother's Apple Cider Vinigar and a teaspoon of lemon juice and pour a cup of hot water to mix it and sip. It works for me! My husband would add a shot of whiskey but I can not handle that.
