My husband has just been diagnosed with LBD, from what I have been reading it is like Parkinson gone crazy. I don't know what to expect or what to look for. Any suggestions
Sharon, This tends to be a more rapidly developing dementia. Your husband may develop visual hallucinations. I would make sure that power of attorney documents are in place as you may soon need these. Also before competency is lost get wills in order and know what Jim wants for end of life decisions. For example, I am "no code". I nearly had it tattooed on my chest, because I don't want to spend my last years using up our retirement funds for nursing home care.
I don't know a lot about it. There is a gentleman in my support group who has it. I understand that it is not Parkinson's but a Parkinism which falls under Parkinson's. It is a aggressive and the dementia progresses much faster and harder. If you have been to a Neurologist he can explain it or you can get on the computer and type in LBD and you will find a bunch of sites and organizations that will give you info. and assistance also. Will keep you and him in my prayers. A big hug goes out to you! I hope I was of some help to you!!!
My libido is one of a deminishing number of things that work, or even over achieve sometimes. But it’s a curse in virtue’s clothing - my spouse has fibromyalgia so there’s nothing much happening here - I’m trying meditation.
Thanks, this helps. Bob also has visual hallucinations usually upon waking, He also has a hard time getting around. He walks with a walker, but still falls a lot. His dementia is worse on some days, but is reasoning is not very good at all. He took himself off driving, but now tells me that he is going to "put himself back on driving", I may have to lose a set of keys. He also sleeps a lot. I guess all this is to be expected with LBD, but I sure get frustrated sometimes.
