Leejay, this is Dave. You have got the right idea. It will get better, be patient and do not get discouraged and give up. God bless you.
If you are referring to Sinemet, my neurologist cut me back to 1/2 pill once a day, boosted it to 1/2 pill 3 times per day until I was back to one pill 3 times per day. And he had me take it just before a meal. He said, some of us must condition our body and brain to the medication. Taking it just before a meal will make the medication less effective but he did not want me to get discouraged and quit taking the medication all together. And if I still feel a little pukey, I eat 3 or 4 ginger snaps with milk. Sinemet does not cure PD, it is meant to build up the levels of dopamine in our brains. I was told by my doctor that Sinemet is the "gold standard" for the treatment of PD. You can get over the nausea, but it does take time.
I cannot help you here Leejay as that medication does not affect me at all. I assume you tried taking it with food. What does your doctor say? Maybe he can change it with something else. It would be terrible to have severe nausea all the time especially if you have to take that medication often like myself. I take it every two hours. Hope you find something to help you with that problem. Bean
Thank you all for your ideas to help my nausea when taking carbidopa/levodopa.
I have tried many of them and gotten some relief!
hi! (2007) Please drink plenty of water. As Dave says, God bless all of us.!!
