Thanks for the note, were you able to decrease the amount of Rytary you were using when you began to use NEURPO? My wife experiences a considerable amount of disquinesia and I'm hoping to be able to improve that by reducing Rytary. That was also a suggestion by the Dr.

I still use Neupro 8mg with Rytary (extended release caplets of carbidopa/levadopa) and Rasagline (Azilect). Neupro is a Dopamine Agonist (tricks the brain into thinking it is receiving the Dopamine it needs). I was prescribed Ropinerole (Requip) to start as a dopamine agonist, but my symptoms reached a point where using one Neupro patch would be more convenient than taking a lot of Requip. In my case, I believe we keep it on my prescription plan to try to even out my on and off times with the Rytary, which I already take every three hours and have off times. I have experienced some of the side effects of Neupro but not so badly as to create a problem for me so we have kept the Neupro.

EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT!! PLEASE only take what your doctor recommends but be an informed patient. The Parkinson's Disease Foundation (pdf.org) has a good overview and details of the classes of medicines available for treating Parkinson's (http://www.pdf.org/parkinson_prescription_meds). Learn what you can and don't be afraid to ask why a particular drug is being prescribed as well as the potential side effects.
