My Neurologist said Anytime you fall an hit your head go to the ER an get a MRI.They need to check for slow bleeding.Have really been lucky no bleeding period.Remember Sonny Bono he was skiing hit a tree, laughed an said how clumsy he was.He died 45 minutes later.If he had gotten it checked Out! Any time I fall & hit my head no question @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member calls the ambulance & I go to the ER.Fell once an didn't go as I didn't hit my head but, next morning I went as I had broke 4 an cracked4 ribs .Last bad fall I had ,fell face firsto into @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member's computer broke my nose took 8 stitches to close it.Yes, it is absolutely wonderful how God works in our lives.Don't know how anyone can manage without Him.I know I can't won't even try.God does answer prayers in His time not ours.Wonderful to hear of some one that depended on God to supply his needs.Take Care God Bless Hugs 😄😄😄😄
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I’m so sorry to hear that guys, it seems the journey for many is very bumpy indeed. Jesus said take His yoke as it is much lighter than the one you are both carrying. Have Faith trust Him he loves you both and will help you. 🙏🏽🙌❤️❤️
If your spouse is on any kind of blood thinner i.e. Aspirin/Plavix-he should always go to the ER. There would always be a possibility of a slow bleed/concussion. Yes, I know it may not be convenient to go but for their sake you must. My husband is on both of the above meds, fell in the bathroom a week ago, had a golf ball size lump on right side of head. Called 911, did not try to lift head or move him as it could have possibly caused more problems. Thankfully CT scan didn't show a bleed but his blood pressure was elevated for several days afterward. Watched carefully and took bp at intervals. That was on a Friday afternoon, he came home on Saturday. His gait was already very unsteady but now he is unable to walk with walker at all. Can stand and transfer -albeit it slow- in/out of w/c to bed, lift chair. Finding thought process/memory slowly going. He was dx 4yrs ago, no tremors, only does pill rolling with rt hand. Leans to right side. Refuses to take any PD meds anymore. Time will tell how this progresses. So thankful for friends/family and most of all the good Lord. Life happens to all of in some form or fashion-we don't get to chose-so we make the best of it.
My husband has fallen more than 50 0r 60 times in the last 3 yrs. We thank God that he has only gotten hurt twice. He doesn't seem to feel much pain when he falls but he is disoriented for the next several days and is apt to fall again. We are never sure if something is happening to make him fall or if the problem afterwards is just because of the fall. Check to see if there is a "Rock Steady Boxing" exercise group in your area as this is especially for PD and has helped him with strength and balance. God bless you both!
I would have him assessed for concussion. It is better to be sure than sorry. Are his pupils equal in size?
So far I haven't had any falls, except a face plant on a soft lawn while playing back yard cricket. That was Nanna trying to keep up with the grandchildren not Parkinson's.
