Does Anyone Have "internal Tremor" And What Does It Feel Like?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I wonder if internal tremor is simply, for example, the tremors I have under my tongue. Or, could it be something you experience much deeper? Sometimes, my heart feels like it's going to jump out of my chest. It is a feeling of uneasiness and it causes anxiety. I had this feeling shortly after being diagnosed, but it responded to propranolol/I believe that's Inderal, which is a beta blocker. I would have to ask my son Tim exactly what the beta blocker does, he does a lot of hearts/stress test in… read more

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member ...I had internal tremors in the beginning but they were more like a mild shaking inside the middle of my torso, not so much in my chest. It was a weird feeling. Also, I felt like my eyes were twitching yet, when I felt that happening, no one could see anything different. Once I started the Requip, it seemed to all stop.

Bobbins - responding to 8 days ago - Yes, I frequently have internal tremor. In fact, my PD doesn't cause external tremors at all, so people think I have something else wrong with me other than PD. Internal tremors are hard to describe to people who never had them, and make you feel very uncomfortable. For a while ( I was diagnosed 14 years ago) my internal tremors were one of my main symptoms. Now I have everything imaginable – except external tremors. That's why PD is so hard to treat, because no two people are the same.

I, like you have had "internal tremors" in different manners....recently was diagnosed w/glaucoma & asked the specialist if the eye "crossing" etc could be related to P.D. & YES was his answer - that it (P.D.) affects muscles of the eyes as well as other areas of the body. I never considered this until I experienced it 1st hand!

I have experienced this feeling and was diagnosed with AFib; Atrial Fibrillation, for which I am being treated. I do also have what I would describe as an "internal tremor"; it feels to me like I have a vibrator running inside, and it is unpleasant, to be sure. I was told by the doctor that the external tremors which are visible to others is only part of the total picture of tremors. He said tremors do affect all muscles, not just the ones we can see. That's why there are often difficulties with the digestive and urinary systems. I would definitely let your doctor know about this symptom so he/she can make sure you don't have cardiac issues.
