Have You Had Any Issues With Your Meds In Recent Months??
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

My pharmacy is telling me they are having a hard time getting carbidopa-levodopa. I'm also concerned because I've noticed a considerable difference in my symptoms since my meds are now coming from a different manufacturer. It's almost as if I'm not taking any meds! My tremors are making life unbearable again! Anybody else having problems?

I was a pharmacist for 33 years. My reply to that is: manufacturers DO make a difference for some people. You can always request the brand you were getting prior that was helping you. They can order different brands from their supplier. If they say no ask what brand you were getting and call around to different pharmacies. By law all drugs of same name must contain same percentage of main ingredient however they are allowed to use different “filler or inactive” ingredients.

I would like to respond to an answer someone gave you to change pharmacies because a pharmacy can order from anywhere. I don’t know where they live but I was a pharmacist in Texas and Colorado you are permitted to order ONLY from your company supplier. You are bound by that. But I will add this...you can request they only dispense the same brand to you. If, then, they tell you the supplier is unable to supply that brand you can, of course find a pharmacy that can supply your manufacturer.

I have just had my appointment with my PD Nurse and I mentioned the change in Medication that my GP did without telling me and he filled out a form for me to give my GP telling them to give me back the meds I was on before, which they have and I start them tomorrow thank goodness. I hope you get yours sorted out Melissa.

They try to make you have the cheapest drug saying that there's no difference between them but there undoubtedly is , fortunately my chemist is really good and supplies the correct drugs for my wife and myself. Regards Gav

I also take Sinemet 4 a day but you saying about your meds coming from a different manufacturer and you are noticing a change in your symptoms. Well I never thought about it before but now my Ropinirole has changed manufacturers and my tremor which had stopped because of the meds is now here again and more so than it was originally. I am seeing my PD Nurse 2 weeks time I shall have a word with him. and see what he says. My GP surgery just changed my meds without telling me and I had to ask them myself about the change.I hope things work out better for you soon. Sorry you are feeling like this. Sharon
