Is It Okay To Have Tea With Sleep Inducing Herbs In It If You Are Taking Medication?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I can't seem to find any answers online for this. My husband takes Azilect and Carbidopa-Levodopa. Is it okay to drink tea with Valerian, St. John's Wart or Tilia flower? I have some very relaxing bedtime teas that i am afraid to give him.

I tried using lavender oil in a defuser as lavender is a calming agent and found out the hard way it did not work I broke out in a rash and I have used lavender for years. I am on Carbidopa-Levodopa I got the paperwork the druggist out and it does state discuss herbal products with your doctor before using them as they may cause side effects. I suggest talking to your husbands doctor after my reactions.

I don't think you are supposed to take St John's Wort with azilect. Please check.

Awesome! The pharmacist know way more about drugs and herbs than the Dr.s!

I personally, as well as my aged mother (91) have ended up in the hospital because of a conflict with my meds and taking natural stuff together that were not compatible. So I get all the info now from my pharmacists b 4 taking anything. Better to be safe than sorry!!

I drink cannabis leaf tea with cannabis infused honey, works for me. But there are nights when sleep just does not come (like last nite) so I get up and take another tsp. of honey, and listened to meditative music geared specific to sleep! Finally fell asleep around 4 a.m.
