I woke up this morning really stiff particularly in my neck. I managed to make the cup of tea and get to my chair. I had almost finished my tea and my neck was still really stiff. The thought crossed my mind, I wonder, if I put the warm mug on my neck it might relieve the pain. So with a small amount of tea left in the mug I lifted it round behind my head ...... you can guess the rest of the story. Suffice to say I had to change my top and clean the chair .........

Members rallied around a lighthearted post about trying to use a warm tea mug to soothe a stiff neck, with the community offering both laughs and practical solutions for managing morning stiffness with Parkinson's. Several members shared helpful alternatives like rice-filled sock warmers heated in the microwave, heated neck pillows, microwaveable wraps, hot showers, and cape-style heating pads. A recurring theme was that experimenting to find relief is not stupid, and that living with Parkinson's is a journey of adapting and learning with humor and grace along the way.

This just proves Parkinson’s is a pain in the neck, and then it gets worse.

Phil, you can easily make a microwave neckwarmer. Take a wool knee sock fill it with rice grains and tie a knot at the top. Toss it in the microwave for a minute or two and put it around your neck.
I pray the remainder of your day is better.

Not stupid! I think that many times those of us with Parkinson's try to do things that we could have easily done in the past, eg, you trying to put a warm mug on your neck that had something in it. You probably could have done that in the past with ease. The last time I fell it was because I was trying to turn my body to do something in a fashion I have done before. Hopefully, I know now to be more careful and watch where I put my feet. It's all a journey, and it requires a lot of learning along the way as well as adjusting.
