This has ravaged my stomach ! They think PD starts in the gut. My first symptoms were loss of smell and constipation. Then after a week of that then.....Diarrhea ! I got some relief from prolasec and ratinadine then I went to the GI DR. Next month I get a Esophascopy to see what is wrong. It has to do with the muscle rigidity and weakness. Thats why we also have swallowing problems. Do you feel like your food seems to get stuck in you throat, (all the way down to my chest)? This beast attacks every part of your body. It is kike it makes its rounds. One day its my feet then the next day its my neck, on and on and on. I've known about it for almost 3 years but now I know I have had it for at least 10 yrs. good luck.

I just discovered that fermented vegetables - kim chee, pickles, pickled asparagus, pickled peppers, pickled garlic etc. help restore the natural gut bacteria that the use of antibiotics over the years may mess up. No wonder I have been craving these things! Now I can indulge in them - no guilt! Also I always used to have terrible gastric reflux, even after drinking mild orange soda pop. I discovered that chewing sagebrush leaves (the old west kind, not kitchen sage) fixed it instantly. OK, I could make tea with them, but that's too slow. Fortunately I live in sagebrush country.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member Leon has constipation. He uses Shaklee’s Herblax, also a prescription from his Dr. He uses Orange carbonated drink also. He takes small bites and small meals.
He rides his bicycle daily. That helps everything including moods. He is doing more around the house, vacuuming the coils of the refrigerator. That makes it run quieter. Wonderful!!-Sherwon

I meant to also let you know that I agree with Lorehn. For occasional mild indigestion (not what I was talking about before in my last post!), crystallized ginger works great for me. I buy it at Trader Joe's by me for less than $2.00 a bag, but it is available in lots of health food stores. It tastes like candy, but since I started eating this when needed, I no longer need Nexium on a daily basis!

Marlene,
Thanks so much for sharing this with me. I also have the kit that the National Foundation sends out to us. I will have to look at the sheet that you are referring to.
Thanks again.
