i have tried moving around more, changing my diet to include more fruits, fiber and vegetables. I am taking milk of magnesia and although it helps some, I continue to have issues.
Hello! I have been constipated since birth! My Mom used to have to pull the stool out of me because It was so hard!
Right now I take MIRALAX each morning with aa SENOCOT-S tablet ! Then I take another SENOCOT -S tablet at noon and another just before I go to bed!
I only have a BM about once a week but it is soft and not painful!
My Hubby is the the person with PD. He has had issues for years. He was on Miralax for several years but in 2017 we finally weaned him from that. He is now using the following method. 6 fiber pills at bedtime, Prunes 8-10 with breakfast, Fruits and Vegatables with every meal, lots of water every day. So far it seems to be working OK. Thank Goodness, we are hoping to keep things moving in a more natural way for as long as possiable. Good Luck with your situation.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member - you're right. Most "licorice" today contains no licorice, just corn syrup, paint, and plastic. Panda brand makes real licorice, and grocery stores even carry it now, not just health food stores. Do you know of any other brands that are real licorice root? Is licorice tea equally effective?
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, if your wife likes black licorice perhaps she could try eating some everyday. It is a delicious and natural laxative which I love to use. I don't know how well it works for everyone, but I do know a lot of people who prefer it over other things. Remember though, it can't be something licorice-flavored; black licorice twists are what I use. (It does turn the stool a rather pretty green - lol)
I called my doctor. She told me to take Miralax daily until the problem clears up, then take it two or three times a week. Thank you all for your great tips. I will try to remember them all. Hugs.
