Painful Sensitive Gums
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question đź’

The last 6 months I have found food gets caught around teeth and gums. I have regular dental check-ups and had teeth cleaned. I brush (electric toothbrush) and use Corsodyl mouthwash. I have taken Azilect since 2005 and understand this may cause gum problems, but this was never a problem previously. I also find I am bighting my cheeks and toungue whilst i eat and often have choking problems when eating. Is the gum sensitivity a PD related problem? What do I do as I am losing all enjoyment… read more

I have been biting my tongue, inside of my cheeks, and inside of lips for about 2 years. I have
four cleanings a year plus any other dental work that needs to be done. I use an electric toothbrush, an electric irrigation appliance , and dental floss. My gums have deteriorated since being diagnosed with pd. I carry a toothpick with me wherever I go because I can't stand the debris in my teeth and gums. I've only been taking Rasagiline for about 2 weeks, so don't think this would have any bearing. Some of the dental work has left holes between my teeth and gums so have to monitor closely.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. Join my mouth group! I have been biting the inside of my cheeks a lot. My mouth is so sore at times it hurts to chew. I bet the inside of my cheeks must look like ground meat! I got dentures last year and now food gets under them even though they fit tightly. I don't eat much meat now. AND blue berry and strawberry seeds drive me crazy. I eat them anyway but I have to take my teeth out and clean after.
