Tremors And Shaking With Pd
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

So....given the physical effects of pd, i have also noticed that if something is or could be stressful or upsetting to dad, he starts shaking and having pd tremors. Should i assume its just a coincidental episode or can something upsetting really set this off?

Look up the yoga hand position 'vayu mudra'. This was suggested to me by my yoga instructor and I find it can usually stop tremors! You need to hold the finger down pretty firmly with your thumb for a while and I often find it acts like a switch in turning the tremor off even when it is effecting my hands, chin and leg! 35 to 40 mins is suggested or 3 sessions of 10 to 15 mins per day. I only have to use one hand in the mudra and in bed can usually keep the position holding my thumb and finger against my arm! Worth trying.

Hi, I'm new here and newly diagnosed with Parkinson's myself, but I have noticed for me, stress is a big trigger. Whether I am nervous, or overstimulated, even the inability to open a package, can cause my tremors to worsen. I hope this was helpful?

To finish sentence; I'm talking running my fingers through my hair.

I sometimes feel stressed for no reason whatsoever. It usually means my meds have run down so I take an extra one which solves it. I use madopar 100/25 capsules 3 times a day and also have madopar dispersible when needed because it is faster acting.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, there are significant associations between stress and increased motor symptom severity in people with Parkinson's. Stress can't be eliminated, but it's best to reduce your father's exposure to it as much as you can as it can lead to a poorer quality of life. There is way too much information available to outline here, so do a Google search and visit the sites of the foundations to find ways of limiting stress

Here are just a few:

It's best to use reliable sources like these to gather any information about Parkinson's.
