Members living with Parkinson's disease shared a variety of strategies for getting better sleep, a common and frustrating challenge in the community. Several members mentioned helpful tools including CPAP or BiPAP machines for sleep apnea, melatonin supplements, and CBD oil, with a note to always check with a doctor first since these can interact with other medications. A warm recurring theme was the comfort found in late-night companionship, whether from beloved pets or faith, reminding members they are never truly alone on their journey.

Is cannabis oil legal on your country because when my hubby need a good night sleep he takes a bit and that even helps to relax him and helps with trembling as well sleeps soundly.

The one he uses my nutritionist mixes it with coconut oil so it is much milder than having it pure

For body aches this oil is used to massage the body.

It really works so I recommend it to all PD sufferers

Just a precaution people should take before using CBD oil; third are few studies on how CBD oil taken internally may interact with other meds you may be on. It can also exacerbate certain conditions, bipolar disease for one, so do your homework (research) and make sure you aren't complicating things. Also, make sure your doctor knows; if you have a medical emergency and the doctor is uninformed it's much more difficult to give proper treatment.

@Psalm5, I love the cat story! My cat now lives with my brother but when he was with me he loved sleeping with me, paws around my outstretched left arm, his little face buried in my hand. He was always tired out after our tug-of-war with my pajamas. And then around 4AM the fun would begin. By then he had gotten up to "roam".... then the outdoor cats came around and he would come bounding into my bedroom, up on the bed right where my lower abdomen with a full bladder was laying...well, you get the picture. Never a dull moment with my Silky black cat. Such sweet memories. 😏
Hugs,

I usually lucky to fall asleep by midnight as I try to aim by getting to bed by 10 and hope to fall asleep by 10-12 but yes like last night I think I fell asleep by 7 ( I had worked on Wednesday and then stayed up that night and very late the next night so I was very sleepy by last night)! But, yes, if I fall asleep early like prior to 10 at night, then I almost always wake up again in the middle of the night! But seriously Melatonin has really helped at least for me and too I also read an article on how people with PD often really lack Melatonin which is connected too in some way to another chemical that is Serotonin that we with PD are usually always low in also!

Melatonin really helps me- I bought some at Walmart and think it was pretty cheap from what I remember as I had it a little while ago —after I both remembered that, I had bought it for this reason, and also got so get desperate enough to try it one time when everything I usually did failed! Like think I gone without sleep for a number of nights in a row and think back then too I was working at least 30 hours per week. I had to get some sleep my body was just acing in terrible pain but my mind and brain were still racing-sometimes fails to shut down correctly mainly because I just can’t stop thinking!

I learned then that Melatonin was the only thing that seemed to shut down my mind and thoughts and basically put my brain on pause, as I also had some positive dreams to — not nightmares!

It helps to wake up in the morning in a happy mood ( because I had a happy dream NOT a nightmare! Plus, I usually can remember some of my dream which neither have I done in yearS!! And too waking up too in the morning with your body feel somewhat rested, is also something I have not felt in several years s too!

So now like a 1/2 hour of before I want to fall asleep (or right away if I forget and need to go to sleep right away), l take a couple Melatonin pills without water, as they’re at least the ones I take are meant to dissolve in your mouth! I also take my other Parkinson meds- before I go to sleep. Then I’m off to sleep before I have much time to think. And of course I always wake up one or two times during the night and I will just take another pill of Melatonin and I usually fall right back to sleep

Just please, realize everyone is really different and too we are all taking different meds and too we all may have different other health conditions- Thus ask your doctor about trying this first, and also rememberwhat works for me may not work for you!
