The son of a close friend works for a shop that sells CBD Oil. My husband has fairly advanced Parkinson's and she suggested the CBD Oil. I was told that CBD Oil shops here in the states should have proof that their product is lab tested and passed. CBD Oil is often "watered" down and will not work. I purchase a 30mg bottle that is usually appx $200.00 but with their Compassion Program, it is $135.00. 30mg is about 30 doses. We buy the Extra Strength, it tastes awful so he takes it is a small juice glass with OJ. The CBD Oil works very well for him. It's not a miracle drug but it really helps with anything inflammatory related. I wish we could afford for him to take it 3 times a day, but too expensive. The MOST important thing with CBD Oil is to KNOW who you are buying from. The shop I use also has an online store if anyone wants to try a bottle of their CBD Oil. I buy the Water Soluble (body absorbs it quicker) and the Extra Strength as that is what is advised for PD. Remember, CBD Oil is not yet regulated by the FDA so you really need to be careful where you buy it.
All CBD oil is not equal. You have to do a lot of research to make certain you are getting a full spectrum oil that has been grown organically, tested by a third party lab for heavy metals, bacteria, accuracy of dosage, etc. Also, the dosage makes a great difference. Most people start with 2 20 mg doses a day. If that doesn't help after 2 or 3 days, increase the dosage. 70 to 80 mg twice a day is necessary for relief in some people. It's mostly used for tremors and anxiety but can have other beneficial effects as well. And of course, every one is different.
What works for one does not necessarily help another. Just be sure you are dealing with a quality product. One that contains heavy metals (which the hemp plants are particularly good at taking up) could easily make your condition worse. There have been no independent double blind studies on this yet so any reputed benefits are anecdotal. My neurologist said that because PD symptoms are so individual and can come and go as a regular course, it would be very difficult to conduct any meaningful scientific trials. I think that's probably doctor speak for it doesn't fit in their sphere of interest. Living in Colorado, I've had access to it for some time. I use a CBD salve for back and leg spasms (so far I don't have a lot of problems with tremors and I've been taking Wellbutrin for years so anxiety isn't much of an issue either) and it helps. I have found a trusted source for the oil to take internally and I will be starting with that next week. I'll keep everyone up to date on my self "experimentation".
what shop do you use?
THANKS, Anxious to hear if it works....and how much works for you
I would also like to hear from more people about this. My father took it at night but it seemed to make him worse
