How long between the time your meds wear off until the time your next dosage kicks in do you feel horrible? Bean
I take 4 carbo/Levo a day. I was doing them 6hrs apart, but since it takes about 45 minutes for them to kick in, I started taking them 5 hrs apart and that has really cut back my down time. Also my neurologist told me if I start noticing early signs, I can take 1/2 dose to alleviate it. Also eat carbs with the med. Don't let yourself get overtired. In and drink 4 oz water. in the evening I often start having symptoms if I'm getting tired, then I either take a little nap or just go to bed and take my extended release, nighttime carbo/levo tablet.
I'm on a Duodopa pump 4.7 ml per hour during the morning, then I change my pump to one that delivers 4.9 ml per hour, I can give an extra dose that lasts An hour
Co-beneldopa 12.5mg/50mg twice a day
Co-beneldopa 50mg/200mg capsules. These are to be taken should the Duodopa fail to be delivered.
Co-careldopa 50mg/200mg one tablet at night
Entacapone 200mg 5-6 tablets a day
Rotigotine transdermal patches 2mg/24 hours
Rotigotine transdermal patches 8mg/24 hours
One of each worn overnight
Some days I will have 7 or 8 extra doses of Duodopa
And three Co-beneldopa capsules and I still have difficulty with mobility.
Keep safe and smiling ๐๐๐ Gav
I used to have 1 - 1\2 hours per day. I am taking a fairly high dose so increasing meds wasn't an option.
She prescribed a drug called Entacapone. You take it at the same time with your carbidopa/levodopa and it helps your meds last longer.
Hope that helps
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I was told before the DBS that I would have to be on drugs also. Bean
you need second opinion or another doctor. I have already had one bad neurologist who I am glad I didn't listen to.. His replacement is great, Maybe you GP doctor can recommend one.
