I ache for sex often I had DBS
I’m trying to control compulsive internet shopping…new since I was diagnosed.
I was put on Pramipexole by my first neurologist. He said that if you liked doing something, you would REALLY Iike it with this medicine. Some people have gotten into trouble with gambling. The only thing I do more lately is wash. I must love that. LOL
Sometimes
Apparently there is a huge, varied and wide scale of differing symptoms that come with parkinsonism. I’ve heard about excessive gambling urges as being one of them.
Hypersexuality is another. Some use compulsive sexual behavior as an escape from other problems, such as loneliness, depression, anxiety or stress.
Excessive gambling can be used the same way.
The realities of Parkinson’s, as we all know, is a monster to face day in and day out.
It’s no wonder many Parkies run to other pursuits to get away from that reality.
Those are just probably some of the horrible byproducts from this humiliating disease.
After quick consideration Janet, I think I’ll pass on pramipexole. But thanks for the tip!!
I have an idea you may not get many answers from our lady team out there on this subject, but I sure know what you mean.
And if you’re indicating that is a possible side affect of DBS, I sure the heck don’t want or need it.
Interesting that you’ve brought the subject up, as I “have read” where those increased urges can be part and symptomatic of PD, but not many folks weigh in on the subject. Interesting!
I applaud your boldness though my friend, and I assure you, you’re not alone.
I hope the Parkies out there in PD land, that are, or may be, experiencing these increased urgency , have an understanding mate/caregiver that can/will help them get through this additional symptom.
As for us loners, it’s a real burden!
I’ll swap prayers with you. And again, I applaud your being candid and open about this sensitive issue.
