I had DBS May 6, 2013. I would do it again today. Without a no doubt the best medical decision I have ever made. DBS is still doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing. Private message me if you want more information.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I have had DBS. Had it done in October 2019. Took me a year to get the perfect setting for me. Many of my symptoms went away but still dealing with extreme fatigue in the afternoon which I can live with and work around. I am really surprised I went for the procedure, I am so chicken about things like that, don't even like removing a splinter! And being awake during the process is not my cup of tea. But I am proud of myself for going through with it. If you have any questions about the procedure, I would be glad to answer them for you. Bean
My husband had it January 2021, and we have to say it’s been a success! He can move quite well -he still takes Rytary, but can walk without tremor and many times he forgets to grab his cane when leaving the house. It’s not a cure all, but has definitely helped!
I had my DBS done in September of 2022. Had both sides done at the same time. I love how much better I feel. I eliminated one of my meds and now just take carb/lebadopa. My doctor had to do the surgery before I turned 76 in October.
It is worth it I got mine on my bday. 4-2-2019 and it does work with dystonia you just have to read your book when you get the kit when you get the DBS
