Parkinson’s fatigue is far more than being tired. When your tired, you sleep, and you wake up refreshed. With Parkinson’s fatigue you wake up exhausted. It’s crippling exhaustion, and you don’t want to do anything.
In order to break this cycle, you have to get up and do something. I assure you you’ll push through it and get something done. The key is to plan it ahead of time. Plan everything and don’t allow anyone to make any changes. When you have completed your plan, go back to bed if you feel like it or you can do something else if you want to.
Each day you can plan bigger or smaller if you want. Stay in charge. if you let people push or pull you, things will fail. Let them know they’re free to make a plan with you. They are not free to make changes once the plan is in motion.
I hsve fatigue every day as well. I am good for the m orning but afternoon is rough. Rock steady amd any exrcise helps. I give in aftrr linch butt i fight thru it other times. Once i get moving it gets bettrr. Its hard to find somethimg to do because of limitations but i can always execise. My wife can always find me something to do. Lol
My husband passed on May 25th, but fatigue was always present when he was still here. I always let him sleep as much as he needed. When he was awake, especially at the end, I kept him alert by watching old movies and cowboy shows by looking up the various actors, where the show was filmed, etc. He always took part in these “investigations”. IMDB is a great website for looking up old programs and movies. We especially liked seeing someone familiar, but much younger and discussing early appearances of well known actors.
Thank you for that information.
I also suffer from debilitating fatigue. I Do not have any way to combat it unfortunately. I cannot exercise because of the fatigue. Does anyone have an answer for those who have this problem?
