Every day, after eating breakfast, my husband has a 30-40 point drop in his blood pressure. In the past, before we were aware of it, it had led to his losing consciousness
Originally a year or so ago,, the doctor prescribed Midodrine to push/ maintain his BP before he eats. That worked for a while to keep his BP getting too low. But now the day starts with his blood pressure fairly high so we've stopped giving that particular medication. Elevation of the feet and reclining while we wait for the process to just do what it does. Its been 2 years since he got the diagnosis of autonomic dysfunction. It just happens after the first meal of the day. Thankfully the rest of the day is good.
My husband has orthostatic hypertension and also has had episodes after breakfast and a few hours after. He has lost consciousness sometimes. Recently we have tried having him taking his blood pressure meds before he gets out of bed. Today he was fine.
