My doctor recommended it recently, but indicated that some people have psychotic symptoms on this drug i.e. hallucinations, delusions. I am afraid to take it for fear of having these symptoms. I would like to know your experience if you’ve taken this drug in the past or are on it now.
Hi, my name is Sherri and I have been taking Carbadopa/Levadopa for about 4 years now and I have never had any hallucinations or delusions. The only side effect I have had is that I talk a lot in my sleep and I’m now starting to have dyskinesia from taking the Carbadopa/Levadopa for so long but it’s the only medication that helps me but it doesn’t last as long as it used to and that worries me. But when I get my Medicare this year I plan on getting the DBS surgery and I have done a lot of research on the surgery and I like what I have found out. I know a guy that has Parkinson’s for a long time and he has had the DBS surgery about 3 times and he looks good but having the surgery a lot can put a strain on your body and your brain. I’m 64 and I plan on having the surgery just one time because it lasts about 5-6 years and you can live a normal life again, like you never had Parkinson’s and you are able to get off your medication so I’m looking forward to the surgery if I qualify. The cutoff for the surgery is 70 years of age and the medication has stopped working for you, which it is. The surgery costs about $50,000 but Medicare pays for it. My husband doesn’t want me to get the surgery because some things can happen, like being paralyzed or not being the same person you were when you went into surgery and I told him that I’m going to take the chance because I don’t want to live like this anymore when I can do something that could help me. Have you heard of a supplement called ‘Restore Gold’,if you haven’t heard about it look it up. It has helped alot of people with Parkinson’s. I ordered me some and plan on taking it. You have to take 16 capsules a day with your Parkinson’s medication. You take 6 with you first dose of your Parkinson’s medication and another 6 with your second dose and then 4 with your third dose, depending on how much of the Parkinson’s medication you are taking.. I take one 100 mg of Carbadopa/Levadopa and one 250 mg of Carbadopa/Levadopa and I Entacapone 200 mg 4 times a day. But back to the Restore Gold, the people who are taking the Restore Gold say they have been able to reduce their Parkinson’s medication intake and some have even been able to get off of the medication and has slowed down the progression of the disease by four years. It takes about 3-6 months to see any good effects and some even sooner.
