My husband (diagnosed 2012) had DBS in January 2021. Since his recovery he can now get himself in and out of bed, shower himself as well as go to the toilet without any assistance. Prior to surgery, I had to help him with everything like that. He actually got on the floor and played with our granddaughter the other nite and managed to get himself up with no help. He still has to takeParkinson’s medication but DBS has really been worth it. We know of those diagnosed with early onset as well as later in life who have had it and it’s been a game changer for them, too. Check with your movement disorder specialist to see what they suggest!
