Yes and it seems to be getting worse. I found an app called Make-A-List. I has the option to just speak into your phone and it adds whatever you say to a list. Doesn't matter if it is an item, name or random thought. It goes on the list. When you are done with it delete the line. It has helped me so much.

As we age we do have a tendency to forget and the older we get the worst case of forgetfulness starts to set in. Some forget even their friends name , some of us. Go thru the alphabet until the name bounces out, some write notes on a slip of paper. Some write check off lists to remember. You don’t have to have Parkinson’s to be forgetful. 🙏

Oh, I know, so frustrating! If I had a penny for everytime I walked into a room or opened the refrigerator door and couldn't remember why I did it, I'd have several dollars. When I moved on from being angry about this, not sure I am fully there yet,and realizing it is a common issue that often comes with aging and PD, I started to put my energy into ways to reduce these moments, reduce my frustration and put my pennies to better use. Please know, I still allow myself to get frustrated but I don't let it take hold and ruin my hope and push to stay on a positive path.
The following work for me to some degree but collectively my short term memory is less of an issue for me.
I use the alarm function on my phone to remind me to eat and take my medicine at the proper time before or after meals.
I use the note pad function to keep to-do's, shopping lists, questions for my doc, etc.
I use the schedule function on my phone to remember appointments and time-dependent activities such as bill payment, med renewals, arranging transportation for med appointments, etc.
I use post-it notes to remind myself I am not on this journey alone and also as reminders about taking out the trash, pick-up the mail, call a friend, etc.

This is less then perfect but it helps me. I am grateful I still remember moments so important to me- my wedding day, birth of my children, family vacations, etc. When I think about how much worse this memory loss can be, I check my notes and phone and get on with my life. This didn't come to me overnight. I decided a couple of years ago that aging and PD is what it is. I'd rather be on this earth with my loved ones and deal with moments of frustration and I refuse to be angry or frustrated for 1 moment more than I have to and I can control the emotions associated with the memory issues. Also, I refuse to think of myself as a victim.
Please note, this adjustment is not easy and I slip often but I go back and wrap myself in the positive as often as necessary.
I wish you the best my friend and hope you find an acceptable way to manage what life sends you. You are not alone. I hope you find joy in this day.

I forget the usual things, like why I walked into a room. It does take me longer to retrieve memories of acronyms and titles, but I’m 77 , so is it PD or age? I write important things down or run a mental list. I find that the more patient I am with myself, the better my memory is.
