I see my MDS every 6 months and the Nurse Practitioner every 3.Some are telemedicine calls.Both spend as much time as needed often more than an hour and are also available through a portal and by phone. I always get a reply within 36 hours. I am grateful to have such an attentive team to work with me.

When I was first diagnosed, I saw my MDS every 3 months. Now it is every 6 months or more if I request. I often use the portal to answer questions about my medications and he is really good about getting back with me.

Jim sees his neurologist every 6 months. The visits are short, maybe 10 minutes. She asks how he is doing and if he has any concerns, then tests strength, balance etc. and that's about it except for changing prescriptions or referring him to PT or speech therapy as needed. Jim's PD is progressing slowly, so there isn't really a lot more required right now.

I see my neurologist every six months, spending ten minutes with her nurse,answering routine questions and 20 minutes with her. I always arrive with written questions and concerns that we review together. I may call or use the email portal whenever I need to.

For the last 3 yrs I have only seen the neuro NP every 6 mo. I'm tired of her maintenance approach to PD and annoyed by their policy about having to be in stage 4 or 5 before seeing the neuro.
I live in a specialist desert so I tolerated that but as I learn about new research and treatment, I insisted on seeing a neuro As luck would have it, the practice just brought on a movement specialist and I have an appointment on 11/21. You may want to check with your health insurance to see what their policy is. on who to see and how often. Mine was not in agreement of this practice's policies.
