I've had to deal with essential tremors most of my life. Now the second shoe has dropped and I have to deal with PD
also.

Can DBS help both ET and PD?

Bi-lateral?

You asked a good question David but only you and your doctor can make decisions about next steps. DBS is not without risks so ask a lot of questions including those you posed here before making any decision to have brain surgery and keep in mind, DBS is a treatment, not a cure.
If you look around on this site, you can find all kinds of safe changes, especially exercise that can help you manage tremors and other symptoms while you work on the longer term picture.
As you know, there is no cure or silver bullet at this time but quality sleep, healthy diet, stress management and most of all, exercise can make PD manageable and help you stay hopeful, positive and find joy in every day.
So happy you are in this community with so many caring and supportive people.

Lukas53, I thought your answer was great. Definitely make it a conversation with your doctor!

It worked for me. I had bi lateral in September of 19. Didn’t have any luck controlling my tremors with meds. It is definitely not perfect but overal it’s been good. My speech is not great but if I focus and slow down it’s okay. Ultimately it’s a super personal choice but I’m glad I did it. Hope this helps.

I've seen friends have DBS and it works wonders but 2 of my friends it was no help plus you have to have it adjusted at times and when I say friends the people I know in rocksteady boxing but I'm not an expert at all I myself won't have it unless the meds don't work anymore
