Before PD I might have woken at 1am and felt hungry and just gone back to sleep but now with PD advancing it is as though my digestive system is telling me I am extremely hungry and I have to get a small snack if any hope of falling back asleep again. Any one else?

Oh, that just makes sense. The medications say u might get the side-effect of gaining weight... and of course because u are more hungry. I didn't think of it that way. :) They ought to add extra hunger or munchies clearly as a side-effect.

People with Parkinson’s disease often report changed eating habits and intense cravings for sweets. Studies have shown that individuals with Parkinson’s may have a strong preference for sweet foods such as cakes, chocolates, and ice cream. This preference might be due to the body's need for simple sugars or carbohydrates that break down quickly. Additionally, low dopamine levels, which are linked to Parkinson’s, may contribute to these cravings as an unconscious effort to boost dopamine levels.

Once I started on the combo of Rasagiline, Pamiprexole and Carbo-dopa levodopa, I packed on almost 30 lbs! My neuro says this is common. I also wake about 3 am starving, have a piece of toast or a few crackers then go back to bed .
When I wake again at 5, or 6 am I’m starving again. I also take insulin for type 2 diabetes.
