If you have nobody listed with Medical Power of Attorney, the doctors will decide. Does he have a Living Will, stating what kind of medical intervention he prefers? Unless he's in hospice, the default may be keeping him alive, regardless of quality of life. It is a good idea to have a document that says whether that is what he wants or not.
