I understand from many sources that it is common with some people with Parkinson’s. Personally, I don’t have that experience. I have had Parkinson’s for about 12 years and have not had a fall yet because of it. My last neurologist said that “I am one of the lucky ones” because I haven’t had falls and he thinks that my remaining as active as I can and want to be, is probably my best defence for not having falls. There is also the possibility that I have a mild degree of the disease and that keeps me from having falls. I think those people who take a lot of meds will be the ones who are likely to have the most falls. I have noticed in the last year or so, my symptoms are increasing at a more rapid pace than they did in my first 11 years. My advice is try your hardest to remain positive and be thankful for every day, and, as noted above try to keep active, go for walks, and be outside as much as you can.

You wrote, "There is also the possibility that I have a mild degree of the disease...:" I feel the same. I don't have accidental falls but I'm careful and pay attention to the ground in front of me., I've been on medication for three years.

It seems my center of gravity has shifted, I'm not dizzy nor do I stumble over anything. Just start heading backwards and to left while standing still. Just have to ALWAYS have one hand free to grab/stabilize. Weebles wobble but they do fall down.

Been diagnosed 3 years ago, and am currently taking Car/Lev two pills three times a day with Ext. Release overnight. Haven’t fallen yet, but have semi-stumbled a few times. I try to stay active by running twice a week and/or doing exercising when possible. I still work full time in a physical job. On weeknights I collapse into my easy chair! Symptoms are advancing like a slow moving glacier. As everyone says: keep moving!
