Does Anyone Struggle With Their Energy Level?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I always have a million things in the fire to do. But now I don’t have the energy to do anything. If I volunteer in the morning I sleep all afternoon. I teach paint parties now that I retired. I had a party last week for 27 people. I was literally in bed for four days afterwards. I keep looking around my home and there are things I need to do but don’t have the energy to get started.

Every day I struggle with energy levels, some days are great, but others ,I'm so tired. I don't sleep during the day normally,it seems lately .I'm content to just veg out,not normal for me. I've always been busy but this last year's been hard on me, caffeine and music seems to help! I wake at 7-8 am but it takes to 11:00 to get dressed and going.

I am always exhausted. OT told me to try to do the things I am able for short periods of time then go rest.when rested do a little more then go rest again off & on. But when I know I can’t do anymore to stop & not overdo. You have to listen to your body. Throw the guilt in the trash. You aren’t lazy you have a disease. Yes we grieve each of the things we can’t do anymore. The things PD has robbed us of. Let yourself grieve it. Be angry, be sad, cry & sob if you need to. Journaling will help you get in touch with whatever it is & enable you to work through it. Reach out to one of us, to listen & comfort you. There is no shame in feeling your feelings, they speak to us to let us know something within us needs our attention & acknowledgement so as we come to know what it is we can bring it out into the light & then be expressed in whatever way it needs. Maybe to grieve, and allow the pent up emotions to be expressed.
Be as gentle & kind to yourself as you would be to someone else that is hurting.
Blessings

I feel like I need to grieve for the person I once was (the one who had the energy to do all I wanted to do) so I can move on and be the person I am now (who needs to manage the energy I have by deciding what to do and what not to do).
