What is the best way of describing Parkinson's that you have heard, how would you best describe it ?

Because I know we all welcome an uplifting question to start the day, try this for size ! 😄😄😄😄😄

Parkinson's is like a hole in your grocery bag. Some of the groceries have fallen out and been lost. What do you do ? You either run for home hoping for the best, not losing too many more along the way or you accept help in preventing the hole becoming too large too soon. Either way ultimately all… read more

Members brought creativity and humor to the question of how best to describe Parkinson's disease, with the original grocery bag analogy sparking a lively and imaginative thread. Several members shared their own comparisons, including Parkinson's as a leaky garden hose, a bad Dungeon Master rolling dice for every daily task, and a stalled car on a dark mountain road, with many praising the D&D model for capturing the unpredictability of the disease. A recurring theme was finding warmth and laughter in shared struggle, with members offering each other support and reminding one another to keep moving forward with grace and humor.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member spoon theory as I understand it is something like you start the day with a number of spoons, and each task costs you one spoon. No spoons left, no tasks completed. You can borrow spoons from tomorrow...but then you get less spoons tomorrow.

The reason I prefer the D&D model is that in spoons theory you always know how many spoons you have and how many spoons each task will take...in the bad D&D model, you can end up going into a task "blind", not knowing if you can complete it or not.

Parkinson’s is just another form of illness. Beyond our control as far as if we get it and how it manifests itself in us. Believe it or not, there are worse things that could happen to you. So I’d say carry an extra bag to carry part of your groceries in. That way you should make it home with at least part of your load. Oh, and maybe stop along the way to see if you can help someone else ( like the lady sitting in the rain!). It just might help both of you if you do.
