Members shared a wide range of experiences in response to the question about how many carbidopa pills are too many, with daily totals varying greatly from person to person based on symptoms and doctor guidance. Several members described switching to extended-release formulas like Rytary or adding patches like Neupro to reduce off times and improve daily function, while others mentioned DBS as an option that significantly lowered their medication needs. A recurring theme was that the right dose is deeply personal, and nearly everyone encouraged speaking with a movement disorder specialist to find the best balance.

Hi, I am on 4 per day. The one thing that I have found is that timing is incredibly important. When I take my meds, if I am off even for a short time things go downhill pretty quickly,

Hi Les, as you can see everyone's answer is different. The doses & strengths are adjusted for each persons needs at the time. The best person to ask really is your doctor. 😊

I take 1.5 tablets every 2 hrs. It took me awhile to find a dose that works for me. Sometimes I wake up in the night (about 3am) and I am so Shakey. so stiff can barely walk to the bathroom I go ahead and take two more at that time just helps tremendously for me. Hang in there . I am referring to the carbidopa levodopa.

Real quick before throwing me out. I’m on Rytary ER which is the same C/Lev but released slowly. My MDS has me on 3 caps 5 hrs apart 4 times a day. 12 caps daily but I think can be increased. Don’t know for sure. Bye

My husband takes three 25-100mg three times a day and a 5-200mg extended release at night. Most of his symptoms are not motor related and he takes a lot of pills to keep his BP up and multiple pills for R.E.M. sleep behavior issues.
