BTW, the technical name for this is "phantosmia"; smelling smells that aren't there. One of those cases where the word sounds far more magical than the reality it describes...
I have too I didn't realize what it could be it's something I've smelled before but just can't remember what it is

I switch from no sense of smell at all to a generally unpleasant "drains" smell that follows me around. I tell all my friends not to be shy and to tell me if I or my house stink. Apart from jokes about the "old people smell", I've had no "yes you do" answers yet, so either I have polite friends (yeah right...they're MY friends, so chosen largely for their ability to call a spade a spade, or occasionally a bloody shovel) or I remain (relatively) fragrant.
As to aftershave I miss "Joop!", the original. I think only part of that is down to me too; they've changed the formula I think, and it's more harsh. It used to have a lovely warm vanilla smell, whereas now I can smell more of the alcohols in it.
