My neurologist just changed my prescription to Carbidopa; Levodopa Extended-Release Capsules.I am currently taking carblevo 25/100mg Dose is 2 tablets 5 times a day.Its only 3 hrs between doses and it seems to take all my time taking pills; It causes dyskenia so bad I can hardly manage it' Has anyone here switch prescriptions like this and seen improvement.
You probably do need to cut back, but talk to your doctor first. An extended release pill may work better, or smaller doses throughout the day. (i.e. 2 x 100 mg vs. 1 x 250).
Skipping a dose of Sinemet (carbidopa/levodopa) without consulting your doctor is not recommended. Sudden changes in medication can lead to withdrawal symptoms like high fever, confusion, or muscle stiffness. The writhing you experienced may be dyskinesia, a side effect of long-term use.
