So someone talking of their disability said "We're all given stuff for a reason".

As an atheist my first thought was no, there is no reason. You (we, I guess) are just unlucky. And that led me into thoughts of if there's no reason, what's the point? In that big, existentialist way, what's the point?

I was depressed for like a half second before I had a thought that was so alien and so obvious at the same time.

You get to make your own reason. You are your own point.

And in a second I knew… read more

A post questioning whether disability happens 'for a reason' sparked a rich community conversation about faith, atheism, purpose, and finding meaning through helping others. Members shared personal beliefs ranging from deep Christian faith to agnosticism, with a recurring theme of mutual respect and the idea that each person gets to define their own reason for living. The thread grew into warm reflections on family, loss, music as healing, and the comfort found in this Parkinson's community, with many expressing love and support for one another heading into the new year.

I love y'all 💓
We started talking about our 'reason ' to why music is essential to our well-being. I believe this group, those who seem to communicate frequently, are the some of the best folks on this site. We seem to be further in to this PDBS. ( I don't need to explain this new acronym do I ???🤯🐃💩) I know I am firmly in the "oh 💩 this is real and I am not sure how I want to play this hand. '. I got symptoms poppin up every which way 😬☹🤬 SOOO I come here to talk to you. Whether it is Have you ever, fill in the blank cause I know one of you guys have....or my rant ladies (sorry guys, y'all walk away from the emotional stuff) so I can boohoo or have my ARE YOU SERIOUS?!) rants....doctor rants can be equal opportunity stories!!

Music has been my major strength for many, many years. That’s made it doubly hard when I’ve had to retire this year from singing. I still sing but not publicly anymore. I feel very fortunate that I was able to sing until I was 80 years old. Most people cannot do that as a public singer. I just don’t have the strength now that I used to have. I still sing, but just more softly now.

❤ You are not wrong and I apologize for the assumption! During Thanksgiving weekend my BIL had come to our house and the three of us were watching a movie that was more than a little emotional. So as not to point out that my men folk were welling up pretty good I asked if anyone else's eyes were leaking?? Then doled out the Kleenex....the two tough guys immediately took me up on the offer 😉☺ No manhood was injured during this time. ☺
