After reading about renewing drivers license yes, no. I thought I would renew it just in case. I don't own a car currently, mine was demolished last year while parked, and don't know if I w get another but I might want to rent one in the future just to be able to do something on my own.

Hi Phil, i stopped driving about five years ago and it was the best thing i ever did. there are way to many people who have a drivers license who should not be on the road. here in Florida they are all over the place. my wife and i sat down one day and figured out how much it was costing us to drive a car and it was just crazy. when we looked at how much auto insurance was costing, maintnance on the car, the price of gasoline etc etc not driving saved us a lot of dollars . my wife's Parkinson's also got to the point where she could not get into a car or an S U V . she has been wheel chair bound for the past three years . we are able to get from point A to Point B by using our bus service which has buses to transport wheel chair bound people. if we need medical transport for doctors appointments our insurance covers these rides at no cost. if i am going somewhere on my own i just call Uber or Lyft and the fare is not that much at all. we do spend a lot less money on transportation now than when i was driving all of the time. l know people like to be able to feel freedom when they drive, but this just works out better for us. good luck my friend and happy motoring .

Ahh, Another reason why so many people are coming to South Carolina. My renewal date was still a ways off but we (Americans) have to get a new card if they want to fly and or something like that... I can't remember.... and since I am a married woman I have had two last names so I have to provide a birth certificate, a marriage certificate two speckled unicorns to get the new card. You don't really need the two speckled unicorns, I added that. It's an American custom to hate the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) 😄 OR a passport... that's a story for another day 🍿 😮‍💨 hmmm.. does anyone know where I was going with story..........🤔🤨....oh yeah, I remember... okay so I get there and they have two questions regarding health 1. Do you need glasses to see and have you had a seizure in the past year?. That's it. Anything else is between you and your insurance company. 😉 The fee was $25 and it is good for 7 years. I was a little peeved, my other one was good for 10.😊
I can also get a handicap placard for my car. If I remember correctly it is a dollar to renew and it's good for like five years. You can even get a thing that if you drive less then 50 miles a month (don't quote me) you get some other break too.
Here in South Carolina we are also known for being overly polite at four way stop signs and we remind any and every person that leaves our house to watch for deer 🦌 unless.. and I'm not ruling it out completely, never mind, you will encounter a deer 🦌 but I digress.
So when all is said and done, I have a strict rule. If, for any reason I do not feel well I do not drive. If I am driving I immediately pull over. I don't drive any more than 20 miles at most. It may be at 70mph but not more than 20 miles out.😜
Oh and here's a tip for my friends who have auras prior to a seizure...a good way to 'see' if you are 'losing' time is music particularly if you know all the words. I had to renew my license due to expiration date. Went to my optometrist for an eye test. He filed it electronically, I submitted the paper work on line and I was done. My doctor said I can drive.

Tell them due to Parkinson you forgot what year it was good luck .ps it doesn't work here
