Hi Donna 462,
I mimic the others answers above; however, you need to see a doctor, asap that can help you control your high bp. I was a nurse in the ER for years. That’s a good start right now, where you need to go. If you do not have a Primary Care Doctor (PCP) ask the ER doctor who treats you, to give you some referrals for one. Further, ask him to look at your current medication. He/she may decide to consult a cardiologist or neurologist from the ER to facilitate treatment for you. A BP of 225/110 is an emergency and return to the ER every time it is that high.
Mine used to be very high too, until I was started on carvo-levadopa for Parkinson’s. As mentioned above, I started having very low BP’s and orthostatic hypotension, too. It’s germane to mention that with straining trying to have a bowel movement, can stimulate the vagal nerve, causing BP to fall very fast resulting in fainting and falling off the commode. We all try not to fall, right?
Here’s wishing you all the best in finding right doctors to help you. Don’t give up!
