When I close my hand and relax my middle finger overlays my ring finger. And it can be very uncomfortable. Is this a PD thing?

Members connected over the question of whether fingers or toes crossing and overlapping is a Parkinson's disease symptom, with many confirming they experience similar issues. Several members shared that toes crossing or curling is common, especially on the more affected side of the body, and offered practical tips like wearing wider soft shoes, cotton socks, hammertoe braces, and foot massage to ease discomfort. A recurring theme was that these frustrating changes, including stiff or uncooperative fingers, are part of living with Parkinson's, and members encouraged each other with warmth and humor.

I have an issue with hammer toes that make the big toe on the right foot point down as I walk. I trip if I'm not careful. I found a hammertoe brace on Amazon that works for that, but I don't wear it all the time, just when I'm wearing shoes. I don't have the problem of fingers crossing or toes crossing though. This disease is just the "gift" that keeps on giving!🙄

Yes, mine do too. And my toes curl at night.

Hi David. I hope the uncertainties have eased concerning your wife’s retirement to care for you. Speaking of fingers acting strange my last 3 fingers on my right hand don’t function as before. Example is holding a pencil and it rolling over to my little finger I am unable to work those 3 fingers to get the pencil back to the writing position. They seem to have fun making me struggle. I can’t write much but when I have to these 3 fingers are on strike. There seems to be another new finger problem on the same hand I just noticed 2 days ago. I am unable to cross my middle finger over my pointing finger. Touching the side of my fingernail on pointer is as far as it will go. Left hand fingers seem to be fine for now. I try and try to cross those two on my right hand but no way. What’s up with this hateful Mr. Parkie. At least my ears don’t flap back and forth like they’re on batteries. Take care my friend.
Prayers and Blessings

Not my fingers but my toes! My left big toe & the second toe cross often. Quite painful. Bigger/soft shoes & cotton has helped. Good luck!
