I recently read a report suggesting that highly stressful activities such as multi - tasking are directly linked to short - term loss of memory. So after all these years the demeaning statement from the fairer sex
'blokes can't do more than one thing at a time' is revealingly true, and the reason is simple. Blokes do the job properly ! You are less efficient when you multitask because it decreases the brain power required to carry out each task. Finish one job before starting the next. In order… read more

Members had a lively and wide-ranging conversation about whether multitasking is linked to memory loss, with many connecting the topic to their personal experiences living with Parkinson's disease. Several members shared that PD has made multitasking much harder, describing short-term memory struggles, getting overwhelmed easily, and using written lists to stay on track with daily tasks. A recurring theme was finding small wins, like making the bed first thing in the morning, and supporting one another with humor and warmth while navigating the real challenges of memory and focus.

I needed a laugh. Both Nancy Steven when they were capable or excellent Cooks tried many times to teach me how to cook. I have attended teaching classes one gave me my money back. I'm no cook. I can clean pretty good. But I've never cooked really well so now that I'm having to cook for myself it's an obstacle at times I'm not a big fan of fast food and now with the eye condition my diet is limited which is cool cuz that is something that I can do. But a man or at least my man has always had to do all the things that you've accounted for here because it to me he may come home to me blowing up the circuit at the entire house which has happened. Indoor locking myself out of the house not one or two times multiple times. Climbing into a window from a ladder yeah that's happened too so my man has had multiple test for another 36 years of our relationship he's never complained one time. I often think even though he's on a feeding tube that may be the best meal I've ever served in. I even mess up peanut butter cookies that are already pre-done when he finds hilarious so does Nancy. I guess God made me just the way he wanted me that's all I can think it is or I'm just so silly or so I don't know what you want to call it dysfunctional multitasking sorry. But for my marriage my husband has been the one who's always held down everything it's so much easier to just hand over here's my check dude do what you want. When I finally quit working and actually took the time to read those social security things they send you I was stunned at how much money I made per year. I never really realize that. And that's okay I love this man and I love my Nancy by the way was my boss for many years she should have give me heads up on my money I think I'll bring that up today y'all have a great day best Elizabeth Ann

Being able to do more than one thing at a time is being human. Multitasking is not the same thing as being able to function at many different levels naturally…

Multitasking is the practice of doing many tasks poorly instead of one task well.

Ladies please note I do not dismiss the fact that things like childrearing require you to multitask more than men. It also explains things like post partem depression.

You multitask more than us because your you have to. But it shouldn't be something to be proud of. I don't think there's anyone in the world male or female who doesn't do a better job if they can focus on a single task at one time rather than multiple tasks competing for attention.

Argue the opposite if you will, but I haven't seen anything to convince me otherwise in 60 years on this planet. Multitasking is what your boss wants you to do. That's a sure sign it's in their best interest.

Yours, not so much.
