Let’s have the remedy for gout then many can benefit
@MyParkinsonsTeam - terrible response! One of the advantages of this MPT website is to be able to discuss anything & everything with other PWP's from the point of view of fellow PWP. Obviously from mthe responses to this question many PWP's experience gout as a result of their PD. Saying "Since this is a Parkinson's disease community, we should focus on discussing Parkinson's symptoms, treatments and management strategies. While it's wonderful that you want to help others, sharing remedies for other conditions isn't appropriate here since everyone in this community is focused on managing their Parkinson's disease" is not a response worthy of this excellent website.
Gout typically attacks the feet. But it can attack any joint. I only experienced a crushing pain in both feet in the middle of the night which woke me up.. I toughed it out and eventually went back to sleep.
The next morning getting dressed for work, I could not get either foot into my shoes. It wasn't a matter of fit.
It was that the feet would not maneuver into the shoe as normal; it was a movement issue. The podiatrist I saw measured them to check for swelling and to see of each foot.measured the same.
They measured the same and visually looked normal to the eye. First thought of doctor was tendonitis. Walking was.difficult. I got into a pair of bedroom slippers and went to work.the next day. I explained to my boss and he was just grateful that.I came to work.
The podiatrist was clever to order a uric acid test and it was way too high. So high that PCP repeated the test because the uric acid level was bizarre. He knew what drug to prescribe: Cholechine. I took it for a number of years; occasionally I would have just a big toe attack even with the Cholechine.
I remember he injected cortisone into the toe saying this might feel worse before it feels better. As.he was walking me to the check out clerk, I said, I don't feel well. He put me back in the exam room on the table and I fainted. The next thing was spirits of ammonia in my face and I pushed his hand away and came to..
He wouldn't let me drive home the short distance and told me to rest awhile; he had a staff member keeping an eye on me. At some point, I sat up and said I could drive home and I did.
..He was right; the toe calmed down; problem solved. I remember having a couple of break through attacks while on the cholechine. 1989 was the last. After a few years more on the Cholechine, I had no more attacks and stopped the med. No problem ever again. Go figure.
So if you have gout or think you do, you need a blood test for uric acid which is the culprit. . If it is too high, you should be treated with a medication or you can take a chance and try the gummies sold on Amazon . I would go with a medical solution.
I know drinking alcohol is not good for gout and there are some foods to avoid which I can't remember. :will check when I am more alert. And I never thought to research which organ secretes uric acid,Will do later and report back.
I thought gout was part of Parkinson
