I haven’t found the right med I don’t think ..I don’t know …I don’t know how to get Theres.. because I don’t know where anxiety, Parkinsons end and where meds begin ..
I’m really confused …
Any one else have trouble finding the right medication ..I’ve had several recommendations for cannabis …indont think I can do that one .,
Joy - a good afternoon to you. I can't advise on meds (and I wouldn't do cannabis - are you US or UK? - both countries can be harsh critics of taking drugs??)
What I might suggest - is exercise, fresh air, good. eating (avoid refined and sugary foods) good music (I don't like voids of silence - what's your music? Get that playing in the house. Comedy - laughter is good for the sole!! Get plenty of that. Meds - we have to trust our PD Nurses (In Stoke on Trent they're great) work with them and do whaat we can to stay healthy and mobile. All the best xx
Cannibas dulls the pain but makes me so dizzy that my heads spinning so much that I’m afraid of falling so it’s not for me , everyone is different ! 😵💫😵💫☮️
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, Have you tried a slow release formula?
I take 12 Hour Allegra-D for my sinuses and ears. Once, my pharmacy was out of the 12 hour, and offered to "give" me a box of 24-hour Allegra D because they knew I needed it. The next morning, I took a 24-hour Allegra-D. tablet, and within a few minutes, I had a "ramped-up" feeling as you described when taking your medicine. You didn't say it was Carbodopa/Levadopa, but I assume that's what you're talking about. The one 24-Hour Allegra-D was supposed to give me the same amount of medication as if I had taken 2 tablets of the 12-hour twice, 12 hours apart, but my system doesn't work correctly, so I felt that "ramped-up" feeling at first, then it wore off in 20 hours, so I was miserable for 4 hours. I don't feel anything adverse with the 12-hour formula, but it does wear off a couple of hours before my next dose is due, but it's not as severe. I know that I'm talking apples and oranges, but their both fruit, and I believe that the tine-release factor in any medication works in similar fashion.
I take Rytary which is an "Extended-Release" formula. It works somewhat like slow-release, but I think it spaces it out more evenly. I still have to take 4 pills 3 times a day, but as long as I don't miss any doses, I don't have the off times that so many describe, even in the morning when it's been 12 hours since I took it last. I'm a little slower, but it's not bad. The problem with Rytary is that it is ridiculously expensive without Medicaid assistance and/or Medicare. I couldn't afford it when I had Obamacare through the marketplace. My doctors did everything they could to get discounts for me and to qualify for patient assistance programs. The result, I believe was worse than if I had never started it. Rytary is potent! Most of the times I was dropped, it was suddenly, with no warning so I couldn't wean off gradually. I now understand what addicts go through when going through withdrawals. I can feel the brain damage it caused, so I don't think anyone should even try Rytary unless they are guaranteed they can afford it, but if you can, I highly recommend it. If not, or if that's not the right one for you, there are quite a variety of different variations. Your doctor would, hopefully know best, but I wouldn't necessarily ask about Rytary specifically, I would ask about slow-release, extended-release or some type of timed-release formula and see what they suggest. If you are concerned about cost, ask if it is a 2-tier or 3-tier class drug. Rytary is 3-tier the most expensive class.
Sometimes it takes awhile to find the right combination of meds
