Go to your primary dr they'll take xrays
I came to say all that A1 has already said. It really covers the topic well. My concern would be aspiration that quickly can turn into Pneumonia. My husband had a mild case years ago, but we never would have know except he broke 2 ribs & ended up in the ER and that's where it was diagnosed. He had no pneumonia symptoms and it probably would have been a very serious case had he not cracked his ribs.
You are very welcome. I hope it helps. 🙂
No. With GERD the gastric acid only makes it to the esophagus....causing Heartburn.
With LPR the gastric acid makes it past the esophagus all the way to the larynx and pharynx (throat and upper airway).
Often making it past the esophagus quick enough to not cause heartburn.
Which is why it is called as "silent reflux".
I was having this issue..... terrible congestion. Thought I had pneumonia. Went to the ER. Eventually, diagnosed with LPR (Laryngeal Pharyngeal Reflux)...also known as silent reflux.
So gastric acid was making it all the way to my larynx and pharynx. This was causing the irritation that resulted in congestion.
Started sleeping with my upper body elevated and the congestion cleared up.
LPR is a common non-motor symptom of Parkinson's Disease.
