Have you thought about or used a service dog for mobility issues with Parkinson's?
While service dogs aren't specifically discussed in the available resources, many people with Parkinson's use mobility aids to help with balance, stability, and movement challenges.
Some options that MyParkinsonsTeam members have found helpful include:
* Walkers - One member shared: "I was looking at using a walker as a sign of weakness...boy was I wrong. My walker is now my best friend and now I see it as a sign of a will to live a full life to my limit."
* Mobility scooters - Some members have leased Motability scooters as a mode of transport
* Working with physical therapists who can recommend exercises and equipment to improve mobility
If you're interested in exploring a service dog for mobility support, it would be worth discussing with your movement disorder specialist or physical therapist. They can help you understand whether this option might benefit your specific symptoms and connect you with appropriate resources.
Have you tried any mobility aids so far, or is this something you're just starting to consider?
