This disorder causes so much frustration. For us and for our caregivers. We both need to be kind. Thank your wife for her support, when she is supportive and do your best to let her know when you’re having an off day. It helps to give her warning” I’m having an off day . I am doing the best I can. I would appreciate your support today.” Then offer to take something off her plate, like ordering dinner in or finding a friend to hang with you so she can get a break. This is not your fault. It sounds like your wife was angry. You both need to think of ways to meet each others needs.
Russell, my husband has been so supportive through all that having Pd brings our way . It is not your fault when these things happen.. I would encourage her to join this group. She will have a better perspective about the varied symptoms. It could be that she is frightened about the future.
no i have total support and understanding
As a spouse who is caregiver I say I'm sorry. It is such a difficult time for both of us. Both of us have lost things that we thought we'd have for our future . When I do get angry it's usually because I too am having a rough day. I'm tired and in pain a lot myself. My husband just got out of the hospital and can barely walk or do anything. I have unfortunately had bouts of anger because taking care of him has affected my already bad back and torn rotator cuff. I should have asked the hospital to help me find help. My husband will have to accept help from others. This is hard for all of us. When I do get angry I do try to apologize because it is more the disease we are angry at not the person. I think maybe communication is so crucial, nobody should feel like anything is all their fault! It is the disease. Hugs
