We did have our home healthcare nurse visit today. She suggested that the use of his hearing aids may have some effect with balance. Plus, we are in full-bloom allergy season for sinus congestion.
It was suggested he may take an antihistamine at bedtime. I will ask his primary doctor first, to assure there will not be counter action with prescriptions.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Is your spouse experiencing dizziness or vertigo with Parkinson's?

Dizziness and balance issues are common in Parkinson's disease. A MyParkinsonsTeam member described similar symptoms: "It happens when I'm sitting or lying down --- when I get up to stand, the dizzy spells happen. I have to stand still and hold on to something for a few minutes before they go away."

Another member asked, "I am dizzy from the meds. Does anyone else have problems with the carbidopa/levodopa?"

Important steps to take:

You're doing the right thing by checking with his primary doctor before adding an antihistamine. Medications can sometimes cause dizziness or interact with Parkinson's medications, affecting balance.

When you speak with the doctor, mention:
* The vertigo symptoms (room spinning)
* His current medications
* The hearing aid use
* Any recent falls or balance changes

The doctor may want to review his medications for side effects or interactions that could be contributing to the dizziness. They might also refer him to a physical therapist who can help with balance exercises.

Keep monitoring his symptoms and don't hesitate to reach out to his care team if the vertigo worsens or if he experiences any falls.
