I’ve become content with eating Healthy Choice frozen meals. Choose what brand you like. They have many options and are easy to prepare. I had to buy a countertop microwave for safety as the microwave over the stove was too much of a reach for me when handling hot food.

Managing food with Parkinson's when cooking is tough is a real challenge — and you're definitely not alone in this. The good news is there are some simple, easy-to-manage options your friend can pick up weekly that are much better than TV dinners and pudding.

Here's a practical shopping list to suggest:

Easy proteins (no cooking needed):
- Canned fish (tuna, salmon, sardines)
- Hard-boiled eggs (pre-made packs)
- Full-fat Greek yogurt (more filling than Boost!)
- Nut butters (peanut, almond) — eat straight from the jar with a spoon

Easy fruits & veggies:
- Pre-washed berries
- Bananas
- Baby carrots or pre-cut veggies
- Avocados

Easy grab-and-go:
- Mixed nuts
- Whole grain crackers
- Pre-made soups (look for low-sodium broth-based ones)

Better drink options:
- Protein shakes with less sugar than Boost (ask your pharmacist for recommendations) Swapping Boost for full-fat Greek yogurt with berries is a great move — it's more filling, has protein, and natural sugars from fruit are much better than processed sugar.

A registered dietitian can also help create a simple eating plan that works around your situation. It's worth asking your doctor for a referral!
