Members living with Parkinson's disease rallied around the question of waking up tired and going to bed tired, sharing how disrupted sleep is a very common and frustrating part of their experience. Several members described fragmented sleep patterns, restless legs, frequent waking throughout the night, and daytime nodding off, with some finding relief through medications like trazodone or muscle relaxers, adjustable beds, or midday naps. A recurring theme was the importance of staying active, keeping the brain engaged, and continuing to fight the disease while showing grace toward yourself on the harder days.

I have found that I sleep less but wake up more during the night. But I’m not tired during the day and I don’t feel tired until around midnight. Then I’m off to sleep for about two hours and then I wake up, and start the cycle all over again

I had this problem and it drove me to research many ways to help not solve.

A member from the orient reminded me the brain is very much like a computer and can overheat easily. Hr recommended a nap midday with actual sleep not laying and reading. If your laptop was hot from over use you would turn it off till it cooled down. Our brain overheats from stress overload that we do not recognize. We need a break to let it cool down. I nap everyday roughly at 2:00 pm for 60 to 90 minutes. This helps me from being over tired at night and overloaded from stress.

Also a little help from my doctor with taking trazadone 30 minutes prior to bed.

Good luck and may the peace be with you!

My smart watch tells me I had a good night's sleep.

Somewhere along the line I've obviously installed the "Lying Bastard 2.0" app on it.

If you let Parkinson disease take over your life it will , you need to fight this disease with everything you have . I know it sounds stupid but it's the truth . I try to do something , even if it's a small task , I live on a two acre lot and I make my dog 🐕 walk it at least four times a day . I cook when I can , always too much , but the guys at the VA hospital love it , and if you're problem is not getting enough sleep , well everyone on this website knows my answer to that problem I use Medical Marijuana for sleeping , they have it for Parkinson disease . And I can tell you it works for me , I've been battling this disease for 6 years and only started to use it about 3 years ago , but I can tell you it's like being covered by a weighted blanket , your mind stops racing and the pain seems lesser and you sleep . It's not for everyone but it does make a difference for me , again keep fighting and never forget you are alone ... 1

I'm sorry , but I've been battling Parkinson disease for 6 years and I found that vaping medical Marijuana was the answer for me . I buy a gram that is for Parkinson , MS , Huntington and for cancer patients and I get about 8 or 9 hours of sleep a night , but you have to get the right one for you . By the way a gram last me about 4 months , but I wake up feeling great , and early because I have to take my Parkinson pills 3 at a time starting at 5AM , every 3 hours until 8 PM every day , so all I can tell you is this works for me , and it's better than taking opiates or sleeping pills , cause GOD knows we take pills . So not sure this helps you , but it's works for me , again keep fighting this disease as long as you can , and then keep fighting even harder ...
