Yes I have swallowing difficulty and excessive saliva. I have taken speech therapy classes and Speech Out with Intent online classes. The excessive saliva has me constantly clearing my throat. The swallowing difficulty only occurs when I am really tired or stressed.I have to calm down and wait a second then the swallowing issue is better. The saliva issue is caused by the saliva is thicker due to parkinson. I try to drink more and therapist says papia juice helps ( know I did not spell that correctly. If you take speech therapy classes they will be able to help you. Good Luck.

Yes, episodes like these are something other MyParkinsonsTeam members have reported. Parkinson's can cause fluctuating symptoms, including increased tremors, swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), and excess saliva — and these can cluster together during certain periods of the day.
These episodes may be related to how your medication is working. For example, symptoms can worsen during "off" periods when medication levels dip between doses. It's really important to bring these episodes up with your neurologist, especially:
- How long they last (2-3 hours is significant)
- When they tend to happen (morning, after meals, between doses?)
- How often they occur
Tracking this pattern can help your doctor adjust your medication timing or dosage to smooth out those fluctuations.
A speech-language pathologist (SLP) can also help specifically with the swallowing and saliva concerns, and may recommend targeted exercises or treatments to manage those symptoms.
