Yesterday afternoon started having some really strange symptoms that I never had before. I was diagnosed thispast December and am in Stage 1 with meds controlling tremors and feeling pretty good most days. Yesterday to I went to boxing class, about 3 p.m. started feeling strange, felt as if I had "bugs" jumping on me with constant scratching all over, had trouble swallowing and eating, was very tense and jittery, could not eat supper due to swallowing and chewing problems. Finally went to bed… read more

Members came together to support someone newly diagnosed with Parkinson's who experienced alarming symptoms including a crawling sensation on the skin, jitteriness, and trouble swallowing and chewing. Several members shared that these kinds of episodes can be related to Parkinson's itself, including conditions like dystonia or anxiety, and strongly encouraged contacting a neurologist right away to describe everything without leaving anything out. A recurring theme was that frightening new symptoms can feel isolating, but the community offered reassurance that good days and harder days are both part of the journey, and that advocating for yourself with your medical team is key.

I'm thinking serotonin syndrome!!! The description sounds like what I experienced in hospital with a bad combination of meds with PD meds!! The bugs crawling on the skin was definitely what grabbed my attention! And the jittery and tense feeling sounds like dyskinesia which explodes during serotonin syndrome ... and the trouble chewing and trouble swallowing all another part of at least my dyskinesia!!!!

Homework: research Serotonin Syndrome and Dyskinesia on your own and assess your situation which will probably answer many of your concerns and will give you technical terms to use with your neurologist which they understand and respond better to expose the cause of this attack and guide you further!! The smallest things can trip you up now, any combinations even as small as taking some cold medicine or antibiotic can do it and you're not even thinking that it was a thing, now with PD meds is a big thing!!!! Sending positive and healing vibes!!!

Always tell your doctor by phone or by message. I know how that scares you as I’ve been scared choking ! I bought a device to help prevent choking that has helped with my Fears knowing that I have it and my wife knows how to use it !

Raised to speak up and fight for everything I could get as I was the youngest with three older sisters that told me what to do so I stood up for myself. Then my father died when I was 18 . First year of college worked summers to pay for tuition, rent, food then three part time jobs graduated in 4 year no debt ! Life has been good to me now I’m old and slow on this journey but I probably talked and closer to my mom and Dad than most who had their Dads four times longer than I . We fished, hunted, and my parents took me to baseball games in the summer (about 60 games) two teams ! He made me self reliant and not afraid of death as he was in the hospital for 7 months and many a night I watched him take his last breath so he taught me to have strength ! We all need strength for the journey we are on ! I love to read everyone’s posts on here and it gives me peace to learn more about Parkinson’s ! I did get a movement specialist appointment today for Aug.11 th at Washington University Hospital in St.Louis Mo. still looking for answers ! 😎☮️

Hi Alan, I wish it were that easy. I was taught from a young age to keep my mouth shut. I grew up in a dysfunctional, mixed family; the more you held back, the better off you were. It was speak when spoken to. Family plays a big part in how you deal with PD.

What do you say ? Just write down what you experienced and tell everything don’t ever hold back anything and think of something that pleases you and enjoy life !
